Description

CSA Preface This is the second edition of CSA E61951-2, Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes — Secondary sealed cells and batteries for portable applications — Part 2: Nickel-metal hydride , which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 61951-2 (fourth edition, 2017-03). It supersedes the previous edition, published in 2014 as CAN/CSA-E61951-2 (adopted IEC 61951-2:2011). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as “CSA E61951-2” throughout. This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Subcommittee on Batteries and Batteries Systems, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on General Requirements, CE Code, Part II and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety. It has been formally approved by the CSA Technical Committee on International Standards, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This part of IEC 61951 specifies marking, designation, dimensions, tests and requirements for secondary sealed nickel-metal hydride small prismatic, cylindrical and button cells and batteries, suitable for use in any orientation, for portable applications.
