Description
Preface This is the second edition of CSA C22.2 No. 203.2, Powered table systems for residential and commercial use . It supersedes the previous edition published in 2014. It is one of a series of Standards issued under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. For general information on the Standards of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part II, see the Preface of the latest edition of CSA C22.2 No. 0. The major changes to this edition include the following: a) added installation rules; b) clarified maximum voltage ratings for separation of circuits; and c) editorial changes. This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope 1.1 This Standard covers electrical safety requirements for 120 V cord-connected single-circuit wiring systems for residential and commercial use and for use with freestanding interconnected tables, provided with communication, video, and/or power receptacles that are intended for frequent setup and breakdown. 1.2 The requirements apply to powered tables connected to 15 A or 20 A, 120 V (single-phase) branch circuits, for use in non-hazardous locations, in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.3 The requirements do not apply to tables employing multi-circuit electrical systems, tables that are integral to an office panel system, kiosks, carts and utility stands, or wired cabinets. 1.4 This Standard covers the requirements for protective routing of communication circuits. 1.5 In this Standard, “shall” is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the Standard; “should” is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and “may” is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application. 1.6 The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.
