Description

This document provides guidelines for tripping operations with surface back-pressure, managed pressure drilling in accordance with API 92S. This document applies only to drilling rigs with subsea blowout preventers. This document does not address operations with service gas (e.g. nitrogen) injection.

Recommended Practice 79-3 is one of three API documents on tripping operations. The others are:

  • Recommended Practice 79-1, Tripping Operations in Hydrostatically Overbalanced Wells, 1st Edition
