API STD 16WS Well Control Systems for Well Servicing

SKU: 5a1a8ae4f833 Category:

Description

This document contains procedures for the installation and testing of blowout prevention equipment systems on land for well service rigs working in a cased well. Work performed in open hole with a well service rig should be performed in accordance with API Standard 53. Its purpose is to provide the means to contain well fluids to the wellbore, add fluids to the wellbore, and allow controlled fluid volumes to be removed from the wellbore.

The following components are included in the scope of this document for operations under varying rig and well conditions:  blowout preventers (BOPs);  injection and circulating circulating lines;  injection and circulating manifolds; accumulator systems; auxiliary equipment.

This document does not include the following: diverters, shut-in devices, or rotating head systems (rotating control devices, whose primary purpose is to safely divert or direct flow rather than to contain fluids to the wellbore); procedures and techniques for well control; coil tubing well control equipment (see API 16ST).
